Kejriwal and Aam Aadmi party - The political drama continues

The intense drama of the rift within AAP is still unfolding and new murky details are emerging with every passing hour. The hostility and acrimony shown by the warring factions is unprecedented. The rift that started from Delhi has also had ripple effects in Punjab where the Punjab AAP chief whip Sukhpal Singh Khaira has resigned after Bhagwant Mann was appointed the new Punjab Chief of AAP.

Meanwhile the Income tax department has added to the problems of AAP by declaring 2 crore Rupees donation as personal income and not a donation to the party fund as Aam Aadmi Party was not able to justify the source of the money. The money was paid as 4 demand drafts of Rs 50 lakhs each and had caused a lot of political drama as voices were raised within the AAP and by the opposition questioning Arvind Kejriwal on keeping mum on unscrupulous donations. Income Tax department has also issued notice to the AAP on the huge discrepancies found in the details of donations exceeding Rs 20,000.

Trouble also seems to be mounting for the Chief Minister Kejriwal as in another allegation of corruption by former minister Asim Ahmed Khan (in the Kejriwal government) has come out in the open. He said that Arvind Kejriwal had demanded Rs 5 Crores to buy a cable TV network. It seems within 2 yrs of AAP government it has surpassed Congress in doing corruptions.

Meanwhile, after 2 days, Arvind Kejriwal broke his silence on the corruption allegations by Kapil Mishra tweeting late last night that Truth shall prevail. This came out after Kapil Mishra was suspended from the primary membership of the party. A special session of the Delhi assembly has been called today where Kejriwal is expected to respond to the corruption allegations.

Yesterday Kapil Mishra had tweeted that he would go to the CBI today at 11:30 AM and will file 3 FIRs. –

1.      On the Rs 2 crore cash deal between Satyendra Jain and Arvind Kejriwal,

2.      Against the land deal brokered by Satyendra Jain for Arvind Kejriwal’s relative

3.      Against Satyendra Jain, Raghav Chaddha, Sanjay Singh, Durgesh Pathak and Ashish Khetan for foreign trips using illegal money.

It was very interesting to see Kapil Mishra come in front of the media and challenging Arvind Kejriwal, reminding us of the theatrics we have seen Kejriwal employing on numerous occasions. This was followed today by Mishra releasing an open letter to Arvind Kejriwal before leaving for the CBI office. He started off by stating that his heart was heavy that he has to now take on the very person who taught and groomed him for the anti-corruption crusade. He further went on to challenge Arvind Kejriwal to contest an election against him from Karawal Nagar or New Delhi constituency. He also informed that he has received 211 complaints on corruption charges within AAP on the email id he had released yesterday and went on to portray his tiff with Kejriwal as David against Goliath and that he is a lone warrior taking on the corrupt. He went on to say that he knows Kejriwal would be the Judge, Jury and the executioner in the Vidhan Sabha special session where Mishra would be ridiculed and quite possibly be suspended from the assembly. All eyes are now set for the special assembly session and the next steps of the rival factions. Kapil Mishra has threatened to go on hunger strike against if the AAP leaders do not come out clean on the allegations on using illegal money on personal foreign trips including the trip by Sanjay Singh to Russia.

Based on the past experience of Kejriwal and AAP government, this whole drama is not going to end soon. Anyways, Kejriwal has always been in the news for one reason or another and there is a rumor that  all this drama is planned to remain in the news.
