Rise and fall of Kejriwal - Courtesy Kapil Mishra

Going ahead with his threat, Kapil Mishra today began his hunger strike against AAP leaders. He has demanded that the details of foreign trips of 5 AAP leaders – Ashish Khaitan, Durgesh Pathak, Sanjay Singh, Raghav Chaddha and Satyendra Jain should be made public. Kapil has raised questions on the source of funds for these trips and demanded that all the details regarding the trips in the last 2 years should be made available including the details of the countries visited and the people whom the leaders met. He went onto saying that Arvind Kejriwal used to whine about lack of funds for fighting elections, but still lot of money was spent on these questionable trips. Yesterday Kapil Mishra had filed an FIR with the CBI against the aforementioned leaders alleging use of illegal money for their foreign junkets

Kapil Mishra has also alleged that he has been receiving threatening messages and calls after his rivals made his phone number public on social media. There has been no reaction or response yet from AAP or Arvind Kejriwal on the hunger strike or the allegations of using illegal money for foreign travel.

The sight of Kapil Mishra sitting on hunger strike reminds of the scenes from Ramleela maidan where Anna Hazare and Arvind Kejriwal had sat on hunger strike against the UPA government. It’s such an irony to see that the same tactics and methods are being used Arvind Kejriwal by his own protégé. It would not be wrong to say that the unprecedented manner in which Arvind Kejriwal rose in stature and established himself in politics is completely overshadowed by his much more dramatic and rapid downfall. Arvind Kejriwal is now a target of his own style of politics. A victim of his own image, now being challenged by his own. It needs to be seen whether this is merely a temporary power struggle or would this result in complete annihilation of AAP from the political stage. Only a handful of the AAP leaders remain with Kejriwal today as many dissenting voices have already been kicked out and many left on their own disillusioned by Arvind Kejriwal's dictatorial and one man show style of functioning.
