BJP created history; won Shimla Municipal Corporation for the first time

On Saturday, BJP created history and for the first time won Shimla Municipal Corporation (SMC) polls. BJP is one short of clear majority and Shimla is all set to get a mayor from BJP for the first time.

Shimla has 34 seats out of which BJP won 17 while Congress, the ruling party won a merely 12 seats. CPM won 1 seat which is even less than independent candidates who won 4 wards.

Congress was ruling Shimla Municipal Corporation since last 32 years and it is big jolt to Congress that BJP has been successful in painting Shimla as well with saffron color. There cannot be bigger jolt that this to Congress.

BJP under the guidance of party president Amit Shah must be in super confidence that one after another BJP is winning not only state elections but winning civic polls too.

It is not only people of country who are against Congress party but it is party leaders as well who are not happy with Congress. This can be proved by the fact that, 2 out of 4 independent candidates who won the poll are actually Congress rebels.

This polls will also be remembered that –

  1. The new mayor will be a woman  from the reserve caste category
  2. The new corporation will have 50% women

PM Modi said today’s victory in Shimla Municipal Corporation polls is the reflection of people faith in development politics and tweeted –

The state election in Himanchal Pradesh is round the corner and this victory will certainly boost BJP.
