GMC to replace streetlights with LED lights to save Rs. 8 crore annually

The GMC (Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation) on Monday started replacing street lights and instead of using incandescent tube lights and sodium lights they'll not use power-saver LED lights.

It is estimated that it will save GMC's nearly Rs. 8 crore in electricity bills per year.

Currently GMC pays around Rs. 17 crore annually for electricity charges.

The GMC is diving into five municipal zones and this exercise is started in all five zones simultaneously to complete this quickly.

Since the replacement is being done by a private firm therefore as per the agreement the company will take care of maintenance of street lights for the next seven years and thus it will be another cost-saving for GMC.

Just to remind that replacement of power-consuming lights with power-saver LEDs is another favorite project of PM Modi and he was seen many times promoting it.
